Since today is Father’s Day, it makes one reflect on what makes a good Dad. Especially since I myself am not a Father yet. Here are a few things I know about being a Good Dad that I learned from my Father:
- Stay true to your morals and values and stand up for them
- Impart wisdom on your children like how to fix cars and using common sense
- Keep a box of fun trinkets from before you got married so that the kids can rifle through them on occasion
- Have stories – The more the better
- Always hug your kids(no matter what age)
- Enjoy life and don’t get stressed out about the things you don’t have control over
- Watch Ghost and the Darkness(great flick)
- Introduce them to the Clint Eastwood collection of Movies
- Teach them about your trade
- Always have time to play catch(even after a long day at work)
- Laugh, Laugh, Laugh – Don’t hold back
- Be there – whether they need you or not
So to all Fathers out there have a great Father’s Day and remember the reason you can celebrate this day is because of the kids.
