Since today is Father’s Day, it makes one reflect on what makes a good Dad.  Especially since I myself am not a Father yet.  Here are a few things I know about being a Good Dad that I learned from my Father:

  • Stay true to your morals and values and stand up for them
  • Impart wisdom on your children like how to fix cars and using common sense
  • Keep a box of fun trinkets from before you got married so that the kids can rifle through them on occasion
  • Have stories – The more the better
  • Always hug your kids(no matter what age)
  • Enjoy life and don’t get stressed out about the things you don’t have control over
  • Watch Ghost and the Darkness(great flick)
  • Introduce them to the Clint Eastwood collection of Movies
  • Teach them about your trade
  • Always have time to play catch(even after a long day at work)
  • Laugh, Laugh, Laugh – Don’t hold back
  • Be there – whether they need you or not

So to all Fathers out there have a great Father’s Day and remember the reason you can celebrate this day is because of the kids.
